NFSP's Mental Wellbeing Toolkit launches on World Mental Health Day

Oct 9, 2024 |

On World Mental Health Day, we want to stress how important our health and wellbeing is, especially for small business owners who often face significant mental stress. While being self-employed can bring freedom and purpose, it can also lead to feelings of instability and isolation.

In 2024, one of the NFSP's top priorities is to provide welfare and support to postmasters, their families, and employees. Here, on our website, you'll find a wealth of information and resources to offer this support**, including a free, confidential 24/7 helpline providing counselling, legal guidance, bereavement support, medical information, and more.

To highlight the importance of mental wellbeing, the NFSP, Post Office Ltd and Voice of the Postmaster are working together on the Wellbeing Initiative to help postmasters protect their mental health and wellbeing and highlight where support resources can be found. You can read more about this in this month's edition of The SubPostmaster magazine.

As part of this initiative, and on World Mental Health Day, we’re launching an interactive digital Mental Wellbeing Toolkit, to provide accessible resources that bring strategies, actions and reflections, to help you deal with difficult emotions and challenge negative thought processes, as well as signposting to relevant organisations who can provide professional help and support.

We hope the Toolkit will be of practical benefit to you, your employees and your families. It will contribute towards continuing the vital conversations to reduce the stigma around mental health issues and to encourage a supportive culture within the postmaster network.

Christine Donnelly, NFSP NED and Mental Health Champion said:

“We hope that projects such as this help to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and start conversations amongst friends, colleagues and teams.

Our toolkit offers practical exercises, tools and tips for members to implement healthy habits to support their wellbeing and maintain a mentally healthy working environment during these times of challenge."
