The latest BBC Radio Sheffield report of the difficulties facing a local community post office exposes the anxiety felt by so many postmasters in Britain today.
Speaking on the Toby Foster Breakfast Show, Dawn, the postmistress of the Upperthorpe PO in Sheffield spoke emotionally about the devastating effect the CWU strike and Royal Mail cyber-attack has had on her business. She also spoke of how much business she is losing to Royal Mail, who once were partners but are now in competition.
Following the report, the BBC spoke with NFSP CEO Calum Greenhow who made it clear that Dawn is not alone and unless a solution is found to the short and long-term problems then thousands of family-run businesses employing tens of thousands of people will close down.
Listen to the report and interview on the BBC Sounds website from 8.15.
