Love Your Local Post Office campaign

Love Your Local Post Office campaign

The National Federation of Subpostmasters (NFSP) is aware of social media posts where people have threatened to boycott post offices due to the ITV drama ‘Mr Bates vs the Post Office’.

The Horizon scandal is the biggest miscarriage of justice ever seen in the United Kingdom. As postmasters ourselves, this programme has been harrowing to watch. Whilst the reaction from the general public to what the victims have experienced is understandable, the outpouring of feeling towards Post Office Ltd (PO) for their role in this scandal across social media may be detrimental to today’s post office network and postmaster’s livelihoods, by association.

Postmasters have already been the most affected by this scandal, so we have put together a PR and Marketing campaign to urge the general public to continue to support their local post office.

The campaign activity includes:

  • A letter to MPs across the United Kingdom urging governance of PO to change radically and urgently.  You can view the letter HERE
  • A press campaign is underway, highlighting the importance of the public continuing to support post offices. You can view our press release HERE.
  • We have also drafted a templated letter which postmasters can edit, add in your own quotes and send to your local press.  You can download it HERE
  • If any postmasters are interested in speaking to their local press, please email communications@nfsp.org.uk and we can support you with this.

We have also produced some marketing materials for postmasters to use to spread the word and encourage the general public to continue to support their local post office.  Please click on the links below to download materials:
