The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) has published the Welsh Local Shop Report 2022 which provides key insights into the social and economic contributions of the convenience sector in Wales, including profiles of the entrepreneurs that run local shops, the investments they make and services they provide for the community.
The NFSP's Commercial & Retail Director, Robert Clack says
"Welsh shops bring valued access to a wide range of products, services and employment opportunities and have invested £35 million over the past year. The report has found there are 2,975 convenience stores in Wales, employing over 25,000 people. 88% of these convenience stores are owned and operated by independent retailers and 37% trade in isolated locations where no other business trades. This means convenience stores are often the only physical grocery and service centre for a village or group of villages."
