Hallowe'en will be worth about £491m to retailers this year, according to analytics company GlobalData.
Clothing and costumes remain the greatest opportunity for retailers to capitalise on the occasion, with the category making up more than a third of Hallowe'en spend, and forecast to grow 3.4% on 2017.
There is also a focus on confectionery and Hallowe'en decorations, with a greater choice in home accessories, from lighting to ornamental decorations.
Zoe Mills, retail analyst at GlobalData, said: “Social media continues to influence UK shoppers and the occasion offers consumers the prime opportunity to tweet, snap or post their Hallowe'en cosumes and home makeovers."
