Ruth Buckley-Salmon’s comment: Remuneration survey raises all of our issues

Dec 11, 2023 |

Hello, I’d like to introduce myself as the Public Affairs Manager for the NFSP.

I’ve now been with the NFSP for three years and during this time, have organised events at Downing Street, the Senedd, and Holyrood. I've met with politicians across the UK, lobbied on various issues of concern to postmasters, supplied information for debates and Parliamentary Questions and collated data and research shared to the Government, Post Office Ltd (PO) and external organisations.

I've also worked on various projects including bank closures, the development of an Oversight Committee and HtP offices, and also generally oversee, along with Calum Greenhow, requests made by the Horizon Statutory Inquiry.

As the NFSP is a membership organisation, members are at the heart of my role.

This means I need to be aware of current issues and concerns held by postmasters so I can highlight these, or gather responses to support these concerns to PO, stakeholders and politicians.

This is the purpose of the monthly remuneration survey. The results of which are shared each month to PO, the Department of Business and Trade and other interested stakeholders.

Past responses have informed how the Royal Mail strikes impacted upon business, the issues within the new PUDO market, and how the bank deposit limits have affected postmaster remuneration.

This month’s survey asks about Horizon system slowness, an issue constantly discussed within postmaster forums. The information derived from the survey will go directly to the person in charge of Horizon at PO so they understand the frustrations system slowness causes.

The survey takes less than five minutes to complete and every month a postmaster wins £50. All results can be found on the Public Affairs page of the NSFP website.

Here is the link for this month: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C97B9FP, though always feel free to reach out to me at ruth.buckley-salmon@nfsp.org.uk.

Thanks,

Ruth Buckley-Salmon
